WAP is an open international standard for application layer network communications in a wireless communication environment. Its main use is to enable access to the Internet (HTTP) from a mobile phone or PDA.
A WAP browser provides all of the basic services of a computer based web browser but simplified to operate within the restrictions of a mobile phone, such as its smaller view screen. WAP sites are websites written in, or dynamically converted to, WML (Wireless Markup Language) and accessed via the WAP browser.
Before the introduction of WAP, service providers had extremely limited opportunities to offer interactive data services. Interactive data applications are required to support now commonplace activities such as:
* Email by mobile phone
* Tracking of stock market prices
* Sports results
* News headlines
* Music downloads

Premium SMS Text Messaging is generally subscription-based content from a third-party provider. However, you may participate in voting activities via Premium SMS Messaging without a subscription but for which a premium rate may apply.
The best way to unsubscribe from unwanted recurring Premium SMS Messaging is to “reply” to the message, input: stop,end, quit, cancel or unsubscribe from your phone and send it to the content provider ‘s short code.
When you receive a Premium SMS Text Message on your handset, the provider’s short code always displays in the messaging “from” field..
If you are subscribed to more than one service with the same short code, the content provider may deliver a return message asking from which of its services you want to unsubscribe. Reply to this message as instructed by the content provider.
Another option is to visit to the content provider’s Web site and follow the path to unsubscribe from links there, or call the content provider’s toll-free number.
